Happy Friday! No matter how excited you are during race day, do NOT do this!

Congratulations full marathoners on 17 miles, and half marathoners on 10 miles, your longest run of the season! The photo above features your teammates, Halle Standford and Abby Goldberg! We brought in some longer interval times for some of you, and did it feel any different? Not much, right? Weather was just right with the lovely breeze, and some of us even played games while we ran. Everyone kept a good pace this time, and we’re proud of ALL of you! Be sure to check your e-mails as Coach Chris sent out some important information for the week!

Happy Friday! We’ve got a big weekend ahead of us! For most, it will be your personal best in terms of mileage (up to 17 miles!). Look at Rommel above, taking full advantage of the simulated ice bath by going into the ocean. It will be a good idea to this Sunday! You’re all doing a great job, and keep it up!

Tonight’s run was a good way for us to test a faster pace, and to keep consistent when we do our laps. Check out the photos from tonight’s training, but be sure to come out next week! Last Sunday, we ran up to 15 miles (8 miles for the half marathoners), from Shutters to the Venice Jetty, then back up Ocean to 20th and back. It was a very hot day in Santa Monica, so some of us took a dip in the water not only to cool down, but to simulate an ice bath to help our muscles.

I posted this photo I found on Flickr last year on my running blog. Just thought I’d share with this season.

Look at those happy faces, minutes before the rain started to pour down on us for a little bit. This week we started at 7:30am in the Santa Monica Mountains. It was a hilly 8 mile trail run, but it was a nice change of scenery. The views up top were amazing as we could see the Santa Monica & Venice beaches.
